Csaba Méhes

HUNGARY

As a young person, he was accepted into the studio of the Domino Pantomime Ensemble, where he studied the basics of his craft for a year. In 1983, as a professional mime artist, he founded the Penguin Pantomime Ensemble with one of his former teachers, Tamás Tímár. The two-person company soon became well-known, achieving considerable success both at home and abroad. To replenish the genre, a pantomime studio was started. In 1987, he presented his first solo pantomime evening, “Pantomix”, which marked the beginning of his solo career as a mime artist. He has been involved in modern dance techniques, African dance and alternative theatre, which he has used in his creative work ever since. He has started a collaboration with the Freak Fusion Company in Budapest to create a new circus production. He performs his full-length plays throughout Europe and continues to be a favourite comedian in many variety theatres in Germany. He has been invited to appear on various entertainment shows on foreign television. In March 2017 in Odessa, at the internationally renowned 7th Comediada Clown and Mime Festival, he wins the Grand Prix prize of the festival. He is the leading teacher of the newly launched Clow/Clown Training within the Budapest Big Circus and the Imre Baross Artist Training School.
