While for other children things seem clear, Andrei does not understand why he comes to school. The Teacher accepts and encourages questions, confident that answers will eventually appear.
Alarmed that the Teacher's methods do not guarantee total success, the parents mobilize and file a complaint. The Sinister Minister, who has previously dealt with novice teachers and their methods, decides that more discipline is needed. Therefore, the teacher is given a tool to help maintain order: the traffic light that eliminates doubts, negotiations, and questions.
Andrei's questions are now an obstacle to the educational process, even a symptom of a disease that must be immediately cured. In the eyes of the children, the transformation of the Teacher from a patient guide into a soprano singing increasingly difficult to understand arias is like a bad spell, which also transforms them from curious and lively children into foolish and fearful little soldiers.
The parents are convinced that the children's dissatisfaction is a good sign – school "has to be hard to be good," the ultimate goal is getting the highest grade, that’s the guarantee of happiness and success.
Scared to enter the school, which they no longer understand at all, the children stop together in the park and wonder what to do. To their surprise, someone is crying in the bushes.
It is the Teacher herself, who no longer wants to go to school because she no longer knows why.
