Erika Gulácsi, the former mayor of Szalatnak Village, graduated as a livestock engineer and then as a rural development agricultural engineer. The positive results of her nearly one and a half years as village leader are, among others, that value creation has started in Szalatnak, the village has started to develop, the medical clinic, the village hall, the renovation of the roads in the village. Newsletters are published in Hungarian and German, a website has been created, and paper baskets are strung in winter. Also, part of the value creation is the protection of the German national graveyard from the First World War, and in the last year two civil organisations have been founded, one a sports club and the other a German national creative house. What really shows that it is good to live here is that people have moved from the city to settle in Szalatnak.
