Alsóvadász

Alsóvadász has about 1500 inhabitants, with about half of the population being of roma ethnicity. It is located 5 km from Szikszó and 30 km from Miskolc, the capital of Borsod county. It is in a mountainous region with many hills. It is a relatively quiet village with a post office and two shops, and 2 pubs. The village has a community center building, but besides occasional small performances, it is very underused.
The events offered in the village are mainly related to traditional arts and festivities. For example, this year there was a Gypsy village day with cooking, dancing and singing. There is a choir in the village, that takes part in a choir festival every year with the surrounding villages singing folk songs and dancing. There was also a retirement day with a show, singers and the choir.
