Hürth Stotzheim

Hürth is a town in the Rhein-Erft district, just outside Cologne. It did not develop from a single historic town, but from the merger of several formerly independent villages. Today, Hürth comprises 13 districts, including Efferen, Hermülheim, Gleuel, Fischenich and Knapsack.
Each of these districts has its own history, traditions and townscape, which gives Hürth a rather village-like, diverse appearance. While some districts are heavily industrialized (e.g. Knapsack), others have a more rural or suburban character. Hürth is therefore not so much a grown individual town, but rather a mosaic of different localities that together form a common administration and identity.
