The name of Leipalingis comes from the linden tree. In the 19th century Leipalingis was mentioned as a village. Currently, almost 1,500 people live in Leipalingis. The most important building in Leipalingis is a mansion known since the 16th century. Leipalingis Manor is a cultural place that nurtures traditions of the past and history.
