Rūdiškės

Rūdiškės is a town in Trakai district, 15 km south of Trakai.
The village of Rūdiškės has been mentioned since 1774, when a church was built there. In 1792 there were just 3 houses in Rūdiškės, where 15-20 people could live. 1861 the railway changed the life of the village of Rūdiškės. Today it is a beautiful, expanding, multi-ethnic city with a wonderful church over a hundred years old, a gymnasium and a new cultural center. Almost 2000 people live here.
The cultural center, which is only 4 years old, houses three institutions: a library, a music school and a cultural center. A new, modern building, enthusiastic employees, abundance and diversity of art lovers collectives create new forms and traditions of cultural discovery.
