The landscape is very varied due to the Geestrand location. While the Geestrand gives the landscape a hilly character, the flat meadows and marshland resemble a marshland landscape. The renovated Nolte watermill is an ideal starting point for long walks, hikes and bike rides.
Like all villages in the surrounding area, the village is characterized by its agricultural history. Even though the majority of the inhabitants today work in other, non-agricultural professions outside the village, the village character of Süstedt has been preserved.
