Windeck

Windeck is a large rural municipality in the east of the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia with around 19,000 inhabitants. Named after the Windeck castle ruins, the municipality was created in 1969 by merging the communities of Herchen, Dattenfeld and Rosbach. The municipality of Windeck belongs to the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located in the eastern part of the district in the Bergisches Land Nature Park and covers an area of 107.26 square kilometers at an altitude of 90 to 378 meters above sea level. Since the formation of the municipality of Windeck, a great deal has been done to improve the residential and recreational value of the area. In all measures, great importance has always been attached to preserving the varied beauty of this low mountain range landscape in the Bergisches Land Nature Park.
